How Do I Rent a Golf Cart?

Renting a golf cart is one of the most popular ways to get around Isla Mujeres. To rent a golf cart, you can either visit a rental shop in person or book online. You will need to provide valid identification and a valid credit card when making the reservation. Most shops will also require a deposit, so it's important to ask about that before making your reservation.

There are multiple ways to get a taxi on Isla Mujeres. There is a taxi stand outside of the ferry terminal when you arrive. In most areas of the island, it's possible to hail a cab from the street. If staying in more remote locations such as houses on the south point of the island, you may also be able to call a trusted taxi driver or local taxi syndicate. No matter which option you choose, always make sure that you agree on the fare before leaving - this will ensure that there are no surprises when paying at the end of your journey!

How Much Should I Tip on the Island?

The customary tip amount for service providers in Mexico is generally 10-15%. This includes meals at restaurants, taxi drivers, and other services. However, it is important to use your discretion when tipping and consider the level of service received. If the service was exceptional, then a larger tip than the customary 10-15% may be appropriate. Foreign coins are not accepted anywhere and should never be used for tips.

Can I Drink the Water? Eat Fruits and Vegetables?

We do not recommend drinking tap water. All of our properties include purified bottled water for your convenience. As for fruits and vegetables, it is important to ensure they have been washed thoroughly or peeled before consumption. If you are unsure of the quality or safety of any food items while traveling, it is recommended that you opt for alternatives such as bottled water and pre-packaged foods.

When planning a trip to Isla Mujeres, it is important to pack the essentials.
